Dext is an accounting software that allows accountants, bookkeepers and businesses to stay on top of their files through online bookkeeping. As part of the re-brand of Receipt Bank into Dext, we were commissioned to produce a series of brand commercials to both introduce the new brand, as well as promote the capabilities of the new platform.
The concept follows Jim, a “hero” accountant who proactively helps his clients through a variety of accounting and bookkeeping tasks. Dext is his secret weapon, enabling him to solve his clients accounting woes by turning previously tortuous tasks into a few effortless clicks.
Dext is a visual brand that was ready to show off its new look with a bang. Therefore, the way the brand is portrayed in these videos needed to be fun and interesting. Through the use of split screening, and the characters completely ignoring its existence, the spots metaphorically show how Dext brings accountants and clients closer together – all with a healthy dose of satire, wit and good old fashioned “dad” humour.
Shot over two days we shot the 3 full length spots. However, as always we squeezed as much value out of every shot that we could. We produced multiple cut downs per story, localisations for use in the US, Canada, France, South Africa and Australia, as well as an arsenal of stills and GIFs for the broader campaign.
