Secret Atlas are credited as the founders of the expedition micro cruise; small expedition ships traversing the arctic with 10-12 guests run by Explorers for Explorers, “united on a mission to rekindle the long gone spirit of exploration”.
Svalbard is one of the most unique locations on the planet. At 78˚ North it spends half of the year in perpetual darkness, locked in ice, and as the endless sun of summer rises the ice melts away, releasing lush green tundra and towering mountains.
Captured over a 4 month period this film was created to show the evolution of the seasons and the environmental and wildlife changes they bring. With an purpose of showcasing this to prospective guests, aiding them in selecting the best time of year for them to visit, the narrative builds from the first light of the year through to the peak of summer.
